How to Record Your Experience on the PMI-PBA Application

  • Use the Business Analysis Experience Worksheet in the PMI application to record your business analysis experience for the PMI-PBA Application
    • The experience does not necessarily have to be paid work, but it does need to be in a professional setting. Activities such as school projects or planning personal events would not qualify.

Properly recording business analysis experience can improve the accuracy and success of your application. Candidates often combine their application preparation with PMI-PBA Certification Training to better understand PMI’s expectations and terminology.

  • Record each business analysis activity you worked on individually.
  • You need a minimum of 36 months of unique, non-overlapping experience accrued within the last eight years. This means that each month you worked on multiple, overlapping activities (projects that ran simultaneously) counts as one month toward the total requirement.
